With just 210 km of coastline, Ibiza is truly iconic when it comes exuberent summers, idyllic beaches, world-renowed nightlife and great range of hotels, attracting visitors from all around the world.

Important urban areas are scattered around the island, such as the coastal towns of San Antonio, San Juan and Santa Eulalia del Río which emanate a very special Mediterranean charm. Popular street markets come to life during high season, where visitors can get a taste of the island’s hippy vibe. Idyllic beaches and coves can also be found in this natural paradise where Ibiza’s typical whitewashed houses contrast with the intense blue of the sea. Among the most popular beaches are Cala Portinatx, Platja Comte, Platja d’en Bossa, Sa Caleta, Cala d’Hort, Cala Salada and Es Cavallet.

Exclusive beach clubs dot the coastline, with their irresistible draw of elegant sunshades, Balinese beds and exquisite cocktails. The big hotels in Ibiza also offer all sorts of treats and extravagances; they're more than used to looking after a few celebrities.

The capital city, also called Ibiza, houses a beautiful historic fortress within its ancient walls. Throughout history it was invaded by many Mediterranean civilisations, including the Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Phoenicians and marauding pirates. Dalt Vila is a maze of narrow lanes flanked with pristine white houses, set against the backdrop of a light blue sky. Several bohemian shops and restaurants run along the foot of the city wall and out towards the promenade where beachfront cafés and ice cream palours boast fabulous views of the huge port and the refreshing shade of the promenade's palm trees.

What to do in Ibiza

Don’t let the daytime tranquillity fool you, however. Just like the sun and the moon, Ibiza has two faces. Sunset signals the start of Ibizan nightlife, with a never-ending schedule of wild but glamorous parties. The world's trendiest DJs play in the impressive nightclubs every summer, offering some of the best electronic music shows and making Ibizan nightlife a worldwide attraction. Clubs like Magic Life, Pacha, Cotton Beach, Nassau, Bora Bora, Amnesia and Sirocco come alive at night to guarantee you a legendary holiday in Ibiza.

Visit Formentera

Throughout the year, ferries regularly make the crossing between Ibiza and Formentera, a trip which takes around 40 minutes. The smallest of the inhabited Pityusic Islands, Formentera is an unrivalled coastal paradise. Getting around is a pleasure in itself, as distances on the island are no greater than 16 km, with the most practical transport option being to hop onto a bicycle or a moped. Pretty coastal paths lead to idyllic landscapes of crystal clear water and captivating lighthouses, while the seductive lure of unspoiled white sand beaches like Ses Illetes, Cala Saona or Es Pujols will have you relaxing in one of their beach bars sipping that must-have mojito.
